Google DeepMind releases Genie 4, a world model with native audio that holds a scene for up to two minutes Company claim

  • DeepMind describes Genie 4 as "our first real-time world model to generate audio natively", producing ambient sound, music and interactive dialogue alongside the simulated world, and lets users modify a simulation in real time with natural language — changing the weather, or adding a person or object. TechCrunch reports it "can maintain a consistent scene for up to two minutes, double its predecessor's limit".
  • Access is a research preview for trusted testers, with a rollout coming to Google AI Ultra subscribers in Project Genie and to early access partners of the Gemini API and Google AI Studio. All generated video and audio carries SynthID watermarking.
  • DeepMind publishes no resolution, frame-rate or benchmark figures for Genie 4, and states the limits itself: visual details and object permanence "can drift over time", and audio accuracy, legible in-world text and long-term consistency remain open research areas. TechCrunch reports that in a research experiment tied to Gemini Robotics, "a Gemini 4 Argon model broke down tasks into steps that Genie 4 simulated in real time".
