- Chainalysis says that by the end of its 2026 period, July 2025 to June 2026, "over 138 million x402 transactions had occurred on Base", the Coinbase-incubated blockchain, and that for the 16 months ending September 2026 "over 87% of payments fall between a hundredth of a cent and a dime".
- The lag between funding a wallet and spending from it has collapsed: Chainalysis says wallets were "at the median, 73 days old when they initiated an x402 payment" in late 2025, and that by the third quarter of 2026 "that gap had dropped to 18 minutes". Among wallets that sent on two or more separate days, the share receiving a second funding within 30 days rose from 70.6% to 89.3%.
- Fortune, reporting the figures, says payments are typically made in Circle's USDC and that about two-thirds of new wallets spend within an hour of receiving funds. These are Chainalysis's own on-chain measurements of one payment protocol on one network, and say nothing about what the agents bought.
