- The FSB's final report sets out 12 sound practices in two groups: four on organisation-wide AI governance — board and senior management oversight, a governance structure with defined roles, integrating AI risk into risk management, and continuous learning and adaptation — and eight on managing risk across the AI lifecycle, from use-case assessment through to third-party AI dependencies.
- The FSB says it "strongly encourages the board and senior management of financial institutions to reference the sound practices" when developing their AI governance, risk management and control frameworks, and describes the set as a practical toolkit institutions can tailor to their context and risk profile.
- The report reflects public feedback on a consultative version published in June 2026, and the FSB published an overview of consultation responses the same day. The practices are not binding, and the FSB says it will monitor developments and update them as necessary.
